Haute Gironde: Alex Jackson, “feature by feature”

Ahead of the “Michael” film release, local weekly Haute Gironde ran a profile of Alexandre Masse: from the family living room to big stages, the story of a self-taught Michael Jackson lookalike.
In issue 1983, dated 10 to 16 April 2026, the weekly Haute Gironde published a profile of Alexandre Masse, aka Alex Jackson, in its “Trait pour trait” column, ahead of the “Michael” biopic release and the evening planned at Villa Monciné in Saint-André-de-Cubzac.
Dancing for a grandfather
It all began in 2009. Alexandre was 14 and his grandfather had motor neurone disease (ALS). He learned Michael Jackson’s moves in front of his mirror, from videos, to dance for him. The home shows lasted almost a year, until his grandfather passed away in 2010.
From school to the first stages
At school, dancing helped him come out of his shell. In high school, he was already teaching Michael Jackson moves to other students. In Martignas-sur-Jalles, the head of the community centre gave him his first big venue. Then came the Téléthon, the Fête de la Musique and an audience of 900, with five training sessions of about two hours a week.
He also recalls his trip to the United States, where he danced the moonwalk in front of the gates of Neverland, Michael Jackson’s former estate in California.
“I step into the character for a moment.” — Alex Jackson, in Haute Gironde
Back on stage
In 2017 he took a break to launch his business, the RecMédia agency in Saint-André-de-Cubzac. He returned to the stage in 2023 at the Pin Galant in Mérignac, then went on to festivals, birthdays and weddings. To get closer to the character, he works on wigs, make-up and around thirty costumes, always seeking more precision in gestures and choreography.
A troupe and an association project
Thanks to Marine Badie, dance teacher and director of studio HMC in Ambarès-et-Lagrave, four dancers now perform with him. Alex Jackson also talks about his wish to create a dance association around Michael Jackson, to give everyone a chance to dance.
